Many things occur in the rivers of Colorado, especially in those rivers of the Rocky Mountains. A process that happens within the "rockies" as well as in Hahns Peak's surrounding environment is Bed load which is sediment such debris from rocks fall into the rivers by sliding or rolling. This in turn can sometimes be known also as Suspended Load, which is the particular debris/sediments that are carried down the river. Also in our mountains there are types of constant flows in rivers/streams known as Perennial (Regime) which are your basic kayak type waters. There are many small and medium sized streams/rivers with high competence here as well. Although "the smaller the river or stream the more likely their is a higher amount of competence."
